Dwayne Morgan and Daniel Maluka will read their poetry before an open mic segment for anyone that would like to share their work.
Dwayne Morgan began his career in the spoken word in 1993. Affectionally called the Godfather of Canadian spoken word by his peers. Morgan is the author of 16 published and 10 audio collections. Morgan is the 2023 Appointee to the Order of Ontario, and the 2022 winner of the Toronto Arts Foundation Celebration of Cultural Life award, a 2016 finalist for the Premier's Award for Excellence in the Arts and a 2013 inductee into the Scarborough Walk of Fame.
Daniel Maluka is a self-taught Toronto-based South African born Artist and writer. He merges Afrocentric influences with surrealist elements to explore the depths of the subconscious in his art. Daniel's visually captivating pieces have gained international recognition being featured in galleries across Toronto and collected worldwide. In additional to his visual art, Daniel has made notable contributions to literature. His works have been published in various magazines and he has led numerous poetry workshops. His debut poetry collection, Unwashed, was featured in CBC's "37 Most Anticipated Poetry Books for Spring 2024".
